About Thryve Media
I'm Ed - the person behind the camera at Thryve Media.
I picked up a camera for the first time over 10 years ago, back when my focus was nature and wildlife photography. Life got busy for a while and the camera sat mostly untouched - until about two years ago, when I found my way back to it with a completely different focus: cars.
What started as photographing my own build turned into something bigger. I fell in love with the culture around modified enthusiast cars - the late nights on the road, in the garage and the stories behind why someone builds what they build. That's what Thryve Media is really about: not just photographing cars, but capturing what they mean to the people who own them.
What I do
Thryve Media is based in Adelaide, working across three areas:
- Individual shoots for private owners and enthusiasts who want their car captured properly, clean, considered, true to the build.
- Motorsports coverage for drivers, teams and event organisers, from local track days through to accredited race meetings.
- Commercial work for dealerships, workshops and automotive brands who need consistent, professional content to keep their business looking as good as the work they do.
Photography is where it started, but video has become just as important - I now shoot stills and motion together on most jobs, because a build often needs the be seen in motion to really land.
Why I do it
Every car has a story - the owner who spent years tracking down the right parts, the dealership stock that deserves better than a phone photo, the team chasing lap times on a Sunday morning. My job is to find that story and make sure the imagery does it justice. I care about the details as much as the hero shots - the stitching, the badge, the exhaust note you can almost hear in a still frame.
Where it's headed
Thryve Media is still growing and that's by design. The goal is to build this into a proper go-to media partner for the Adelaide automotive scene - for dealerships needing content they can rely on, for event organisers wanting their races documented properly and for enthusiasts who just want their pride and joy shot the way it deserves. Down the track, that means bringing on more shooters and eventually having a proper studio space of my own.
